Upgrades and cancellations

Caedral has two wallets and one ledger. Studio plans (Free, Creator, Pro, Scale) grant weekly Caedral credits that pay for Caedral-hosted products — Studio chat, embed, rerank where marked, voice, and web search. Everything else, including the full catalog of external lab models on the API, runs on a prepaid balance you top up from $2. Every debit flows through an append-only billing ledger tied to individual requests.

Credits refresh every 7 days while your plan is active — they are an allowance for the week, not a bank
Credits pay for Caedral-hosted products on the API and in Studio; usage past the weekly allowance flows to your prepaid balance at the same metered rates
The plans differ by experience, not by per-feature quotas: which voices you can synthesize, speed control (pinned to the default on Free), audio quality, and the per-minute request ceiling
A launch promo may lower the paid prices for new subscribers — current prices are always on the pricing page; a price locked at subscribe time stays until you cancel

#Prepaid API billing

Create an account, deposit from $2, and consume — like OpenAI or Groq. Your balance never expires
Every request bills at the model's provider cost — no markup — plus 5% infrastructure per execution
On Notre-eligible chat, the Notre Fee adds 25% of the post-optimization read value, capped at 50% of your savings versus going direct. When Notre does not intervene, there is no fee
Web search bills $0.01 per search-provider credit consumed
External lab models always draw the prepaid balance — no plan includes them

#What happens at zero

When a wallet cannot cover a request, the API returns HTTP 402 insufficient_balance before anything is sent upstream — never a negative balance, never a surprise invoice. Top up your prepaid balance or upgrade your plan to continue. Metered Caedral products never stop at the weekly credit boundary: voice, embed, rerank, and web search keep running on your prepaid balance.

Checkout and plan changes run through Stripe; Caedral never stores card details
Plans are monthly and you can cancel anytime from dashboard billing — your prepaid balance stays usable on the API regardless of your plan
If a renewal payment fails, the subscription stays past due (not canceled) and API access that requires a wallet returns HTTP 402 until payment succeeds
